June 27, 2023 Hill Country Atelier, a studio art school founded by Holly White-Gehrt in 2017, announced its relocation from the Hill Country Arts Foundation in Ingram to a new home in downtown Kerrville at the intersection of Water Street and Earl Garrett, next door to the Arcadia Theater.

Holly White-Gehrt, Founder and Director of Hill Country Atelier, says, “I am delighted to move the Atelier to the banks of the beautiful Guadalupe River in the heart of downtown Kerrville, which is closer to our students coming from Fredericksburg, San Antonio, and Boerne. We offer traditional, skills-based classical art training that is no longer taught in modern universities or private art colleges. This new space will allow us to increase our programs and attract more students and world class art instructors.”

White-Gehrt has been a practicing artist for 40 years and has taught the Atelier approach for over 11 years. She is a graduate of the Georgetown Atelier and completed a master year at Aristides Atelier at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle. She designed and taught the part-time Atelier program at Georgetown, as well as classes at Gage Academy.

The artist-studio atelier has been a successful model for teaching the difficult skills of drawing and painting for centuries. Hill Country Atelier carries forth this time-proven method of instruction in a 3-year program, with a 4th optional year for developing one’s personal aesthetic. Each year follows a progressive and rigorous curriculum designed to develop the skills, discipline, and mindset necessary to become an accomplished representational artist. Visit www.hillcountryatelier.org for more information about Holly and the Atelier program.
